PlayCity imposed more than UAH 4.7 million in fines on LLC SLOTS U.A., the company that operates under the Betking brand, after an unscheduled inspection found that players could top up gaming accounts using bank cards belonging to third parties.
The main penalty was UAH 4,323,500. PlayCity said that practice breached financial identification rules and the Law of Ukraine on state regulation of the activity regarding organisation and conduct of gambling.
A further UAH 432,350 was added because the company had already been told to fix the same problem and did not do so. In all, the sanctions exceeded UAH 4.7 million.
UA.News reported that the inspection again found violations the company had previously been ordered to eliminate, and that the decision followed monitoring and control measures. It also said the gambling organiser kept the ability to replenish accounts with third-party bank cards.
PlayCity head Hennadii Novikov said, in comments carried by UA.News, that legal requirements are mandatory and unfulfilled orders will not be ignored. He added that the agency continued to work so Ukraine’s gambling market would be transparent, responsible and controlled.
Antikor described the case as a precedent showing tighter oversight in the gambling market and PlayCity’s zero tolerance for operators that ignore responsible gaming and financial monitoring rules.
