Hollywood Casino Alberta has opened pre-registration for Alberta residents ahead of the province’s regulated iGaming launch on July 13. The brand is not yet live, but players can sign up early through a PLAY NOW link.
According to Rotowire, the point of the early registration is to create an account before opening day so players can move straight into play once the market goes live. If there are hiccups in the sign-up process, pre-registered users should avoid waiting for account set-up when the market opens.
Real-money games are still off-limits until launch. SportsBettingDime reported that BetMGM Alberta is also taking pre-registration now, suggesting a wider scramble among operators to line up customers before the market opens.
Hollywood Casino’s responsible-gambling tools include deposit limits, session reminders and self-exclusion options in account settings. It is also expected to tie into Alberta’s centralized self-exclusion register, which would block provincially self-excluded players from accessing the platform.
The article says Hollywood Casino Alberta is expected to launch with slots, table games and live dealer content, drawing on a platform that has operated in a regulated Canadian market since 2022. It also says the live dealer offering in current markets is powered by Evolution Gaming.
CBC reported that dozens of gaming companies have applied to operate in Alberta ahead of the mid-July opening, and that the Alberta iGaming Corporation is sifting through 35 applications before deciding who will be allowed to operate on July 13. The province opened the market because it believed it was missing revenue and that Albertans were already using offshore gambling platforms the government could not regulate or tax.
