BetMGM has opened pre-registration in Alberta ahead of the province’s regulated iGaming market launch on July 13. The brand is not yet live, but players can sign up now so their accounts are ready when the market opens.

According to BetMGM’s June 26 announcement, the rollout is still pending regulatory approval. The company said the Alberta launch would be its first international expansion since entering Ontario in 2022.

Adam Greenblatt, BetMGM’s chief executive, said Alberta players will get the same product strength, responsible gambling leadership and MGM-powered rewards that drove the company’s growth in Ontario. He also said Alberta represents a significant opportunity as BetMGM builds on its North American momentum.

Pre-registration is being handled through a PLAY NOW link that creates a BetMGM Casino account before the market opens. One report said that the same login will later cover casino, sportsbook and poker, with one wallet across the products.

Responsible-gambling tools are part of the pitch. RotoWire said BetMGM offers deposit limits, loss limits, session-time reminders, reality checks, cooling-off periods and self-exclusion options through account settings.

The Alberta casino is also integrated with the province’s centralized self-exclusion register, which automatically blocks access for anyone who has self-excluded provincially. USA Today/FtW added that Alberta’s self-exclusion system at selfexclusion.ca covers every licensed iGaming site with a single enrolment.

Coverage differed on the size of the launch library. USA Today/FtW said the Alberta casino would bring more than 4,000 games across major categories at launch, while RotoWire described a 9,500-plus-game library for Alberta players.

USA Today/FtW also said the BetMGM Casino Alberta app is available on iOS and Android, with Interac e-Transfer, Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, Apple Pay, MuchBetter and online banking among the supported banking methods.

RotoWire said BetMGM is expected to be among the first wave of operators live on launch day. Sports Betting Dime reported that Alberta is expected to have nearly 50 online operators by July 13, while EGR Global said Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission has announced the commercial market opening date and that FanDuel, DraftKings and Caesars are set to enter the province.
