Codere.it has selected Playtech’s BetBuddy platform to strengthen its responsible-gaming monitoring, pairing its existing player controls with artificial intelligence and behavioural analysis designed to identify potential risk indicators early.
The system monitors gaming activity, analyses changes in customer habits and generates alerts that can be used to activate prevention and support measures. PressGiochi reported that Codere.it sees the technology as part of a predictive approach intended to make interventions more timely and targeted.
BetBuddy is set to complement the operator’s deposit, spending and playing-time limits, along with suspension periods and self-exclusion options. Codere.it also identified personalised communications, information and support tools as part of its effort to encourage a more informed relationship with gambling while retaining individual protection as the central consideration.
The platform assesses data to identify people who may face greater risk of gambling-related harm. An analysis published by GREO says Playtech’s account of the system identified 16 features contributing to its risk estimates, including deposits, game selection, frequency of play, bets per day, use of responsible-gambling tools, session length, bet size and declined deposits.
Playtech acquired BetBuddy in 2017, after trialling its analytics and using its algorithms to detect at-risk behaviours. At the time, Playtech said it planned to integrate BetBuddy’s behavioural-identification and modification software into its IMS player-management system, supporting a responsible-gambling platform for licensees.
Italy’s online-gaming framework includes responsible-gaming and self-exclusion protections for online players. Italy’s Legislative Decree No. 41/2024 reorganised the public gaming sector with particular attention to online gaming, while games offered online must be provided by operators authorised under ADM procedures.
Codere described the Playtech collaboration as reflecting a broader approach in which responsible gaming forms part of its entertainment model, rather than operating solely as a collection of tools and procedures.
