Leading online gambling technology company Playtech has been awarded the Business-to-Business (B2B) version of the Safer Gambling Standard from GamCare. This has been confirmed in a news announcement on July 27, 2021. Playtech is the first B2B company to receive the newly established Standard for gambling product developers including games developers and game platform providers, which was finalized earlier this year.

Especially since 2018, the operator has increased the efforts towards responsible business and safer gambling, which is now reflected by the Standard. The accreditation was granted after a thorough review process by the largest provider of support and treatment for gambling-related harms in the United Kingdom.

“We’re extremely proud to be the first B2B business to receive GamCare’s B2B safer gambling accreditation and we are pleased that GamCare has recognised our efforts to put safer gambling at the heart of what we do. We know we must continue to challenge ourselves and work with others to identify and develop new products and solutions to meet the needs of customers, licensees and regulators,” Richard Bayliss, Senior Regulatory Affairs and Compliance Manager at Playtech, stated in the company’s news article.

GamCare is part of the National Gambling Treatment Service, which is funded by GambleAware. They run the National Gambling Helpline on Freephone 0808 8020 133 or via web chat at www.gamcare.org.uk and have advisers available every day of the year. Free treatments also include face-to-face meetings, online sessions for problem gamblers in England, Scotland, and Wales.

Their overall Safer Gambling Standard includes 10 areas and up to 58 criteria for the safer gambling foundation. It captures a wide range of safer gambling measures to protect the most vulnerable customers. Only four gambling companies have received the highest level of the Standard thus far whereas fewer than a dozen have achieved the second level, which now also includes Playtech.

The full list of all currently accredited businesses can be found on the GamCare website.

According to Hayley Jane Smith, Head of Safer Gambling Standards at GamCare, “Playtech was awarded Advanced level 2, of 3, of our B2B Standard for its casino product and platform operations licensed in Great Britain as the Company demonstrated a clear focus on continuing to develop and improve its approach to safer gambling in respect of products supplied to gambling operators.”

Playtech has committed to the principles of sustainability and responsible business with its Sustainable Success approach. They have also implemented an external Stakeholder Advisory Board in order to provide more external insight on topics such as safer gambling, digital health & well-being as well as the diversity and inclusion agenda.

Another vital part of the safer gambling efforts is the centralized Playtech Protect platform, which provides tools, services, and solutions to all operators and subsequently customers all over the world. This includes the artificial intelligence powered BetBuddy analytics tool to identify and manage at-risk gambling behavioural patterns.

As the world’s largest supplier of online gaming and sports betting software, Playtech actively provides online and land-based gambling industry operators all over the world with turnkey solutions. The unified platform incorporates casino games, bingo, poker, and mobile and live gaming, among others.

All Playtech business customers benefit from the sophisticated built-in measures, which is now also recognized with GamCare’s B2B Safer Gambling Accreditation.
