MGM Resorts International and BetMGM said they are once again partnering with the American Gaming Association to promote Responsible Gaming Education Month throughout September. The companies announced a combined $320,000 contribution to responsible-gaming initiatives.
The funding will support research through the International Center for Responsible Gaming, expanded sponsorships for state problem-gambling councils, the 1-800-GAMBLER helpline and the Evive Foundation. Evive says it provides evidence-based digital tools and peer support for people affected by gambling.
GameSense messaging will continue in select NFL stadiums and MLB ballparks during September and will expand into Las Vegas’ NHL and WNBA arenas. The messages will appear on LED ribbons and scoreboards during pre-game activities, while related reminders will run through digital platforms, retail sportsbooks and the MGM Grand Live Dealer studio. MGM Resorts also said its Las Vegas marquees will carry GameSense and American Gaming Association content urging bettors to play smart from the start.
GameSense was first licensed to MGM Resorts by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation in 2017. The company describes it as a programme built around positive, transparent and proactive conversations about responsible gambling. MGM Resorts and BetMGM said they will continue research-based employee training, and more than 3,000 employees have now been certified as GameSense Advisors across more than 45 departments. Stephen Martino said that milestone mattered because employees had chosen to take an active role in promoting responsible gaming, while BetMGM chief compliance officer Rhea Loney said player protection is a priority every day.
MGM Resorts and BetMGM also announced a $440,000 responsible-gaming contribution in September 2024.
